چکیده

We present a new and convenient method for automatically positioning parts in an assembly. High-level entities of mating features and mating relations are used to describe the composed state of parts in an assembly. The characteristics of volume, reference origin, and boundary face of mating features and parts are used to determine automatic partpositioning operations. Using the proposed approach, a hierarchical model of the assembly can be constructed more easily with fewer input data. This approach thus makes computer-aided assembly design systems more user-friendly and greatly reduces the amount of input data required. An example is presented to demonstrate the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Semi-Cohen Boolean Algebras

We investigate classes of Boolean algebras related to the notion of forcing that adds Cohen reals. A Cohen algebra is a Boolean algebra that is dense in the completion of a free Boolean algebra. We introduce and study generalizations of Cohen algebras: semi-Cohen algebras, pseudo-Cohen algebras and potentially Cohen algebras. These classes of Boolean algebras are closed under completion.

Cramer-Rao bound for tracking in clutter and tracking multiple objects

The Cramer-Rao bound is obtained for the joint problem of concurrent association and track parameter estimation for the problem of tracking in clutter and tracking multiple targets. Simplified rule-of-thumb expressions are obtained to quantify the possibility and requirements for tracking in heavy clutter. © 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

Capturing Information on Behaviour with the RADD-NLI: A Linguistic and Knowledge-Based Approach

In this paper we illustrate how information on behaviour can be captured from natural language with the RADD-NLI. The behavioural information contained in verbal descriptions of processes is transformed into an abstract process model of characteristic processes. This abstract process model is then integrated into the knowledge base of the RADD-NLI. Although taken from a speciic domain this mode...

Predictive modelling in the ®eld of dependability, such as repair cost modelling, is usually based on the failure intensity function of repairable systems. The experience feedback data needed to estimate the failure intensity function is, however, seldom available due to the unique character of the systems. Thus approaches that can capture the tacit knowledge of designers, operators and mainten...
